South Austin · LOCAL RESEARCH

Barton Hills

Barton Creek gives this part of Austin its outdoor rhythm: limestone terrain, a network of trailheads and a regional trail still taking shape. Choose a specific access point and route before setting out; the greenbelt extends far beyond any one neighborhood boundary.

Start with a trailhead

The city’s Barton Creek Greenbelt guide lists distinct access points along the main trail. Its trailhead map helps separate a short outing from a longer route across the greenbelt.

A landscape with ecological depth

The city identifies limestone cliffs and habitat for protected species along Barton Creek. Treat the creek corridor as a natural landscape, with conditions that differ from a paved neighborhood walking loop.

Match the route to your needs

Use the city’s trail directory to check surface and accessibility information, then the greenbelt trailhead guide for your starting point. A whole-park address is not a substitute for an entrance.

YOUR COMPARISON

Green points mark approximate neighborhood centers or derived planning-area labels, not entrances or property boundaries. Dashed outlines use official city planning areas, which can differ from common neighborhood names. Orange points use source filing coordinates and do not show a project’s full extent. No walking-time or proximity calculation has been made.

Central East · LOCAL RESEARCH

Mueller

Mueller’s former airport site now combines a lake, restored prairie, public art and smaller neighborhood parks. The city dataset retains the historical name Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, or RMMA. On the ground, the park network provides several distinct ways to explore the redevelopment beyond a single shopping stop.

The lake park has a new name

Mueller’s official park guide identifies Girard Kinney Park as the former Lake Park. Its lake, loop trail, public art, picnic peninsula and open-air amphitheater make it a useful orientation point in the larger park network.

Snapshot: 2026-09-14. Filing window: 2025-09-14 to 2026-09-14. Counts are not ratings, available listings, unique new buildings or estimates of neighborhood quality. Registration and site-plan records can concern the same work and must not be added together. Project totals exclude records reporting counties outside Travis, Williamson and Hays; remaining source ZIP or address errors still need verification. Inspected facilities are not necessarily restaurants or currently open businesses.
