The statewide rules

The deadline is May 15 or the 30th day after your notice of appraised value was delivered, whichever is later (Texas Tax Code §41.44). You may request an informal conference with the district before the appraisal review board hearing (Texas Comptroller). At least 14 days before the hearing the district must send the hearing procedures and tell you that you may request the evidence it will present (Texas Tax Code §41.461). The protest guide covers evidence and appeals.

Check the record first

Before you file, confirm the account, the tax year and the recorded building facts on the Hays CAD property search. Our appraisal record check reads the same public record and lines your appraised value per square foot up against matching Hays County records, where the source reports building area.

A SECOND PAIR OF EYES ON THE EVIDENCE

Bring the notice. We’ll look at the records with you.
