MLS source, pricing method & coverage

Source updated Oct 2, 2026, 6:35 PM Central. Counts use eligible public listings matched to the labeled geography. Sale prices use positive asking prices on Active Residential listings; the median is shown with at least three priced listings. These are asking prices, not sold prices, valuations or all homes in the area. Rentals are counted separately; no rent period is assumed.

Under-contract and pending counts describe records currently in this feed. Location errors and omitted coordinates can affect boundary matches. The initial active-listing import is complete. Different areas can overlap; do not add their counts together.

St. Edwards: the campus story behind a South Austin landmark

St. Edward’s University’s Main Building gives this area a recognizable architectural reference. The university’s own history records a campus shaped by its Holy Cross mission and a building that has survived fire, storm damage and later restoration.

Austin Texas Things editorial research · imported . Original source check dates appear below.

A Main Building with several chapters

The university describes Main Building’s original 1888 construction and its rebuilding after a 1903 fire. A 1922 tornado added another major episode to the structure’s history. [3]

A Holy Cross educational mission

St. Edward’s official history connects the university to Father Edward Sorin and the Holy Cross tradition. Its mission page explains the institution’s educational identity in its own words. [2]

Read restoration accounts in their period

The university’s Main Building article describes successive repair campaigns. References such as “this summer” belong to that article’s publication context and should not be read as a current construction notice. [3]

Before you visit

  • Use university information for campus access

Treat Main Building as part of an operating university. Arrange campus visits through the institution and confirm access rather than assuming a historical building is open for casual touring. [2][3]

  • Read the building’s history before a visit

The university’s restoration account explains the fire and tornado damage behind the architecture. It adds context without requiring access to interior spaces. [3]

A few local questions

Has Main Building always been the same structure since 1888?

The university records a fire in 1903 followed by rebuilding that year, later tornado damage and multiple restoration campaigns. [3]

Does the St. Edwards planning-area page describe only university property?

The site uses the saved city planning polygon named St. Edwards. A city planning area and an institution’s campus are different geographic concepts. [1]

Sources & sync dates

Rollup generated Oct 2, 2026 from the research database behind Zabalist. Point layers (permits, site plans, registrations, subdivisions, projects, inspections, crashes, 311) are counted within the stated radius of the reference point; TABC licenses and code cases are counted for the attached postal ZIP when one is available, and here that ZIP was inferred from the reference point rather than supplied. 311 counts exclude requests marked duplicate or cancelled; "open" counts requests that are open or in progress. A database sync date is when our copy was refreshed, not when the agency record last changed. Absence of a record is not evidence that nothing happened; reporting delays, missing addresses and later amendments all affect coverage.

Each neighborhood is placed by testing its own approximate footprint against a published City, Census or municipal boundary, or by matching the name its listings report. Footprints are estimates assembled from recorded plats and listing locations. This is a browsing relationship. It does not establish shared HOA membership, legal boundaries or services, and county identities stay with each place. Listing counts were recorded on ; open a neighborhood for its current homes.
