MLS source, pricing method & coverage

Source updated Oct 2, 2026, 1:35 PM Central. Counts use eligible public listings matched to the labeled geography. Sale prices use positive asking prices on Active Residential listings; the median is shown with at least three priced listings. These are asking prices, not sold prices, valuations or all homes in the area. Rentals are counted separately; no rent period is assumed.

Under-contract and pending counts describe records currently in this feed. Location errors and omitted coordinates can affect boundary matches. The initial active-listing import is complete. Different areas can overlap; do not add their counts together.

McKinney: waterfalls, trails and a deeper Texas history

McKinney Falls State Park offers a starting point for exploring this side of Austin: Onion Creek’s limestone ledges, wooded trails and the remains of an early ranch. The state park and the city’s McKinney planning area are different geographies, so use the park’s own maps for a visit.

Austin Texas Things editorial research · imported . Original source check dates appear below.

Choose a trail experience

Texas Parks and Wildlife describes nearly nine miles of trails, including the hard-surfaced Onion Creek Trail and the hikers-only Rock Shelter Trail. Its accessibility page covers all-terrain wheelchair options. [1]

Look beyond the falls

The park’s history traces Indigenous presence, routes associated with El Camino Real de los Tejas and the later McKinney homestead. It also acknowledges the enslaved people whose labor developed the ranch. [2]

A landscape crossed by water

The park guide notes that reaching some trails requires crossing the Lower Falls. Consult current alerts and trail information rather than assuming every route is accessible in all conditions. [1]

Before you visit

  • Check alerts and entry arrangements

Use the state park’s current alerts, map and reservation information before leaving. Conditions at the creek and access to a particular trail can affect your plan. [1]

  • Read the falls-area rules

The operator lists restrictions specific to the Upper and Lower Falls areas, including food, glass and pets in the water. Review the complete current rules before packing. [1]

A few local questions

Is McKinney Falls just a swimming stop?

No. The park describes hiking, camping, ranger programs and historical features as well as water-based recreation. Choose an activity using the park’s current guide. [1]

When did McKinney Falls become a public state park?

Texas Parks and Wildlife records a 1970 land donation by the Smith family and the park’s official opening in 1976. [2]

What's changing around McKinney (planning area).

Counts from the research database behind Zabalist, measured within 0.5 mi (800 m) of the reference point. Each figure names its own window. Filings and reports are not a description of any home, block or resident, and they are never combined into a score.

Radius: within 800 m (0.5 mi) of the neighborhood's reference point (30.1984, -97.7280), which is a map marker and not a boundary. ZIP-scoped layers use inferred postal ZIP 78744, voted from mapped locations around the reference point. Rollup generated Oct 2, 2026.

Sources & sync dates

Rollup generated Oct 2, 2026 from the research database behind Zabalist. Point layers (permits, site plans, registrations, subdivisions, projects, inspections, crashes, 311) are counted within the stated radius of the reference point; TABC licenses and code cases are counted for the attached postal ZIP when one is available, and here that ZIP was inferred from the reference point rather than supplied. 311 counts exclude requests marked duplicate or cancelled; "open" counts requests that are open or in progress. A database sync date is when our copy was refreshed, not when the agency record last changed. Absence of a record is not evidence that nothing happened; reporting delays, missing addresses and later amendments all affect coverage.

Some names identify a phase, section or replat rather than a separate neighborhood.

Each neighborhood is placed by testing its own approximate footprint against a published City, Census or municipal boundary, or by matching the name its listings report. Footprints are estimates assembled from recorded plats and listing locations. This is a browsing relationship. It does not establish shared HOA membership, legal boundaries or services, and county identities stay with each place. Listing counts were recorded on ; open a neighborhood for its current homes.
